1798-1814: Saadat Ali Khan II
1814-1827: Ghaziuddin Haidar Khan
1827-1869: Nasiruddin Haidar Khan
-rise to power sees British Wars > Popular Revolution (1827-9) almost coterminous
-expands in border lands in state of semi-collapse
-establishes independence of Awadh with collapse of Company and British rule in North
-when Punjab goes to war against the Mughals Awadh sends army
-successfully defends against sack attempt in Delhi
-and Akbar II becomes puppet of Awadhi administration
-sees growth of Heads of Persia > 1851-1856 The Bab movement
-he sends missionaries to convert people
-and with collapse of Bab movement there's a mass flight of Babi people to many places including Lucknow
-extreme violence in Persia causes revulsion among Muslims
-resulting in religious riots
-to restore order British come in
-but in return for getting a bunch of land
-in years that follows Awadh spends a bunch of money on Persian reconstruction
Nawabs of Bihar
1829-1855: Kunwar Singh
-successfully builds an empire from his his jagir and in 1829 declares himself Nawab
-conquering several zamindars and replacing them with his allies
-faced with British Wars > First Anglo-Bihari War (1853-4)
-defeated hard, faced with British garrison
-tries to overthrow British garrison in British Wars > Second Anglo-Bihari War (1854-5)
-ends up killed and replaced by British puppet
1855-1894: Srinivas Singh
-placed on throne by the British
-who suppress his opposition
